Technology in K-12  schools   (I-Pad Mini)

Will school districts purchase the I -Pad Mini for their students?  Many schools have invested in the I-pad 2-3 to enhance learning.   However, the new mini is expensive, the product cost $329.  The mini is fragile, and students may drop it.  If this occurs, it may be cheaper to replace, than have it repaired.   Let me know, if this  I-pad will benefit students in the classroom.

This product is not on my Xmas list.   However, it is convenient for traveling.  I travel often with my laptop, it is heavy and needs to be replaced.

  1. The iPadmini is a great concept, but I'm not sure who is the target audience for this product. I own an iPad 2 and it's a great design and very functional for my Jewelry business. I'm sure the iPadmini will do well with women, so it can fit easily into their purses, but kids? If you think about the handheld devices that are available to students, the iPad easily comes to mind. Getting a classroom set of iPadmini's are cheaper than the original iPad and they are larger than the iPod Touch so it sounds like a wonderful idea.

  2. I want to LOVE the iPad mini. The concept of all the features of an iPad in a compact and less expensive is wonderful. However, the "Tech Bites" segment on ABC 12 news gave a lack-luster review stating that it left them want and expecting more because it was the exact same system as the iPad. I guess they were expecting more. I'm happy with my iPad 2 and my intent was to purchase the iPad mini for my son and daughter to use. I guess it depends on what the intent it behind its use. Kelly, I agree with you; it's a great idea!

  3. The iPad Mini is a good concept. I believe it would be good in schools because it is smaller and still has the same system as the iPad. So it could do all of the same functions. At some schools in North Carolina all students are being given an iPad or mac book to use for school purposes. The purchase of an iPad mini for all students may be a less expensive way to go for school boards to get the same benefit. As fore marketing I am not sure what Apple is looking for. It seems that the iPad mini is more like a large cell phone. For personal use I like my iPad 2 but maybe Apple could make an larger iPad.
